Visits schedule change
On the days from july the 29th to august the 2nd, tours at 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00 will be suspended due to the acolytes’ pilgrimage.

The Catacombs will be closed:

- from 4 th November to 17 th November 2024 (scheduled maintenance);
- 25 th December 2024 (Christmas);
- 31 st December 2024 (afternoon – New Year’s Eve)
- 1 st January 2025 (New Year’s Day)

Visitors and groups are not allowed in the Mausoleum and the Basilica during liturgical celebrations.

Closed on monday, wednesday afternoon, sunday, January 1st, Easter, August 15th, Christmas, morning of religious holidays.
The maximum number of visitors admitted to each tour is 20.
Reservations are recommended and mandatory for groups.
The visits are scheduled every hour. Last visit starts one hour before closing.
It is not allowed to enter the Catacombs on your own.
It is forbidden to bring animals.

Guided tour of St. Agnes Catacombs
Duration: 30 minutes
Languages: Italian – English – German (on Friday and Saturday, by reservation only)
The visit is led by the official guides of S. Agnese, specialized in archaeology.
You will be accompanied to the discovery of the Christian Catacombs that hosted the burial of Agnes, a very young martyr of only 12 years. Due to her young age, the strength of her faith and her courage in facing martyrdom, the Byzantine Basilica, built right above her tomb, was dedicated to her.

Guided tour of the “Sant’Agnese fuori le mura” Monumental Complex
Duration: 60 minutes

The visit is led by the official guides of S. Agnese, specialized in archaeology.
You will be accompanied on a journey of faith, art and history, almost two thousand years long, to discover St. Agnes Catacombs and other monuments that make our complex unique in the world.
Only with this official guided tour it is possible to access the parts of the complex closed to the public: the women’s gallery of the Byzantine Basilica, the archaeological area of the Constantinian Basilica and the baptistery of Pius IX.

- students of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology (upon exhibiting the card issued by the Pontifical Commission of Sacred Archaeology)
- priests and nuns of the religious community of custodians of the Catacombs
- teachers, university tutors and catechists accompanying a group (one free entrance for every 15 paying visitors)
- groups of 35 or more visitors paying full price can benefit from two free entrances
- tourist guides with valid licence
- researchers who provide documentary proof of their studies may apply for free entrance with the Pontifical Commission of Sacred Archaeology
Visitors with a wheelchair are not allowed to enter the Catacombs.

Cash or bank transfer payments.
Tickets for the catacombs are never refundable. In the event that for reasons of force majeure it is impossible to carry out the tour, please contact the guided tours office to check if it is possible to issue a voucher, which can be used on another date.

Those wishing to make the complete tour of the Monumental Complex of St. Agnes (60 min) can pay the supplement of 2 euros on the day of the visit.
